Today’s brief

No transactions, contracts or coaching news broke, and there was no follow-up to owner Bill Chisholm's Aug 22 comments about buying TD Garden. The closest thing to real news was Payton Pritchard confirming an informal Celtics minicamp already underway in California with Paul George, Mike Conley, Derrick White, Sam Hauser and Jayson Tatum, and saying Tatum is “looking good” and should be “stronger and more explosive” nine months after his Achilles tear — the only fresh injury-adjacent detail of the day. Everything else was aggregation of one Brian Windhorst podcast segment questioning whether Paul George can stay healthy, plus retrospectives and betting-odds filler.

I have no idea how he's gonna hold up.” George hasn't played more than 41 games in either of the last two seasons; Brad Stevens called him “one of the more impactful players with regard to winning” and a good fit.
